Michael Emmons lives
and works in Big Sur
California. He has been on the sculpture and
woodworking faculty of the
Anderson
Ranch
Art
Center
in Snowmass
Colorado
. He also teaches at the Center For Furniture Craftsmanship in
Rockland
,
Maine
and for the Arts For Success program in
Mississippi
. His work has been featured in Metropolitan Home magazine, Sunset, Elle Décor,
House Beautiful, Town and Country, and The New York Times, among others.
He is featured extensively in Daniel Mack’s book- Making Rustic
Furniture (publisher Sterling-Lark, 1992)> He has been the subject of a
PBS special series on hand made furniture. He was commissioned to design
furniture for the stunning Post Ranch Inn of Big Sur, and recently
completed a series of chairs for the new Wuksachi Lodge in
Sequoia

I
have been teaching and making furniture for 27 years. I am still
just
as enchanted by the mysterious energy living in a tree
or
a stone as I ever was and I will always marvel at how that
spirit
helps the pieces to build themselves.
